The ideal base for exploring the river and beaches, relax on the large deck with water views. Stroll along the parkland waterfront or take a bush walk to the swimming hole. Arrive by boat at the Driftway and enjoy an island style retreat on the tip of Bar Point, Hawkesbury River. The best fishing spot on the river is right out front, fish from the jetty or your boat. Located between Brooklyn and Berowra Waters you're in the ideal place for exploring the river and beaches. Head over to historic Bar Island to explore and Twin Beaches (Marra Marra) for a day at a river beach or up to Spencer Store and Cafe for one of Andrew's famous flathead wraps with a cold beer. Enjoy a trip to Brooklyn for shopping, cafes and restaurents or perhaps some live music at The Anglers Rest. Or simply relax on the large deck with water views and watch life on the river. Take a leisurely stroll along the huge parkland waterfront reserve while the kids run free - there are no cars at the Point. Plenty of room for cricket or ball games on soft grass. Up for a good walk? Pack some snacks and a towel and head out to the swimming hole with pristine fresh water. Allow an hour or so each way, a little more with kids. No problem, you can hire a boat over night from Brooklyn Central or grab a water taxi anytime. Even better, take a combined Water Taxi and tinny hire deal so you get there fast and have a boat for the weekend to explore the river. You can top up supplies at Brooklyn or Spencer, both 6 nautical miles. Bar Point is a quiet parkland style area on the banks of the Hawkesbury River about 20min by boat from Brooklyn or Berowra Waters. There is a huge water front reserve which is great for playing ball games, strolling through the trees or just relaxing and watching life on the river. There are golden sand river beaches 10 min away at Twin Beaches (Marra Marra) and historic Bar Island is close by. Spencer is a great destination for an easy lunch - try Andrew's flat head wraps! Or Peats Bite restaurent will pick you up and drop you back if you're after a fabulous degustation menu with pool to wile away an afternoon. Explore Marra Marra or Berowra Creeks or the nearby wreck of the Parramatta. Or take a bushwalk of around an hour to the swimming hole, allow a little more time if you have young kids. Bar Point is an easy place to walk around with a kilometre of mostly flat water front reserve plus more challenging bushwalks for the adventurous. If you'd like to get out on the water, Bar Point is 6 nautical miles from Brooklyn and from Spencer. There is a booklet at the home with directions and details about fuel options, bush walks and more. The closest launching site is Deerubbin Reserve, Mooney - about 15 -20 min by tinny. The Driftway is water access only. Guests are welcome to bring their own boat (16' and under) or you can hire a boat from Brooklyn Central or a water taxi from Neal at Hawkesbury River water taxis. Even better, Neal can provide you with a water taxi and tinny package so you arrive quickly and there'll be a tinny to use to explore the water during your stay - no license required. We can also usually arrange a concierge option if you'd like your gear transported from the jetty up to the house or simply use the trolley.
