A quaint & cosy period cottage in the centre of the beautiful village of Great Longstone. Built in local limestone in the 18th century, Lincoln Cottage is one of the oldest cottages in the village. Put your feet up in front of the fire after a long day out in the fresh air! The cottage is a wonderful mix of traditional and modern. It has everything you need for a peaceful and comfortable stay. You can contact me at any time if you have any questions at all. You will be in the centre of the Peak District National Park! The area is a walkers, cyclist and climbers paradise as there are so many routes to take whether it be from the front door or a short drive away. The Monsal Trail & Thornbridge Hall are a 10 minute walk away, Monsal Head viewpoint a 20 minute walk away and Chatsworth House & Haddon Hall a 10 minute drive away. Bakewell is a 6 minute drive away. You can go exploring in any direction and you will find it enjoyable! Food: The closest pub is 30 metres away (the Crispin Inn), the White Lion is 50 metres away! The Packhorse in Little Longstone is excellent, as are the stone-fired pizzas from Doughology in Hassop (Wed-Sun). The Bull's Head in Ashford-in-the-Water is good, as is the Bull in Foolow and The Barrell at Bretton. Hathersage has The George, The Plough, The Bank House and Mazzi's Indian and Grindleford has The Maynard. If you want to go high end with your food, check out The Riverside in Ashford-in-the-water. Hassop Station Cafe is great for coffee, lunch, tea, cakes and bike hire! Supplies There is a small village shop and a 24hr farm shop that sells fresh milk, eggs and delicious yoghurt - just have some coins on you to leave as it's an honesty box. The closest supermarket is Aldi which is a 5 min drive away! To reach Great Longstone by public transport is fairly straight forward. You can catch a train to Chesterfield or Sheffield and then take the bus to Bakewell and then catch the 173 bus to Great Longstone. The bus stop is just across the road from the cottage. Please note that the cottage has NO WiFi and some people don't have good phone reception in it however outside the cottage normal phone signal is excellent.
