Near Edge Cottage

A lovely, refurbished cottage on our farm. Situated on the outskirts of the quiet, picturesque village of Branthwaite. Ideally located for exploring the coast and the lakes, and within a 30 minute drive radius are the towns of Whitehaven, Workington, Maryport, Cockermouth and Keswick, lakes, fells and the beach! For a more rustic experience, check out our other listing, Near Edge Hut Or Near Edge Pod :) With a brand new kitchen and shower room, our refurbished cottage is now open to guests and visitors to the Western Lake District. Self contained, with plenty of parking. Downstairs are the fully equipped kitchen, shower room and large lounge area, with a tv/dvd player, and an open fire for chilly winter evenings. Upstairs there is a large double room and a twin room. Although listed as accommodation for four people, up to two extra people can be accommodated with the pullout chairbed in the lounge, and very comfy sofa, if need should arise. Up to two dogs are welcome in the cottage, however please see housekeeping rules. Stepping outside the french windows in the lounge, there is a patio area with outside garden furniture for al fresco dining You may use the garden outside of the Cottage and the washing line out the back. We like to be there to greet you and show you round the cottage, but then will leave you in peace. If no one is in, a self check in guide can be provided. However, we are just next door should you need us for anything. Branthwaite is a small and friendly farming village, ideally situated in between the coast and the lakes and mountains. The Wild Duck pub is a 15 minute stroll away from the cottage (or a two minute drive) or the equally lovely Royal Yew pub in Dean is just a couple of miles away. You will need transport if you want to go further than the village. Everything is a short drive away. There is a bus on a Wednesday that goes a couple of times a day to Cockermouth but thats it! (Unsure of the times as of October 1st 2021) The nearest shop is 3 miles away The nearest supermarket is 6 miles away. Both Sainsbury's and Tesco deliver here if you would like to order a shop for when you arrive then please do so :-) There’s no buses in this area due to the small size of the village. Taxi services are temperamental with prices. Best to bring your own car !
