At the midway point of the Queen Charlotte Track, Ngahere Hou is a peaceful forest retreat to relax in comfort in a uniquely appointed Yurt. Includes organic breakfast and Self catering in full kitchen and bbq. Wood fired hot tub and stunning views. With Wekas at your feet and bellbirds all around this unique off-the-grid experience will definitely recharge your batteries, it’s an experience, not just a place to stay. A unique and beautiful yurt and summerhouse accomodation. The Yurt sleeps four in a luxury King size bed and a double bed, (the summerhouse sleeps two in a deluxe queen size bed). Breakfast is provided with organic ingredients including free range eggs and bacon, muesli and juice with freshly home baked bread, coffee and croissants. Shared self catering facilities in a well equipped Kitchen with a Garden Terrace to relax and enjoy the stunning views of the water and with outdoor dining and BBQ. Shared but private outdoor hot shower and composting toilet, and wood fired hot tub. Close to the Queen Charlotte Track at the halfway point with access to the Kenepuru Sound, a private Beach, bikes and double sea kayak. As seen on Grand Designs NZ (the Pod House). Access to 40 acres of private bush reserve including glow worms, and the Kenepuru Estuary and private beach. 15 minute drive to Portage or Punga Cove Resorts which both have cafes and restaurants. There is water taxi access into the Queen Charlotte Sound from nearby Torea Bay. Excellent cell phone coverage and wifi is available at the house. We’re happy to socialise with guests if desired or give you space to relax. This has been our retreat for 20 years and our home for two, we love the remoteness, the stillness and the contact with nature that being here provides. Living off the grid but without compromising modern comforts. You can get here by car on the Kenepuru Road, a beautiful but long and meandering trip with lots of photo stops and wildlife on the way it’s around an hour and a half from either Picton or Havelock. Plenty of secure onsite parking. By water taxi to Torea Bay or Punga Cove we can collect you from there. If you’re walking on the Queen Charlotte Track we’re 3 1/2 hours from Punga Cove Resort and the same to Portage the other way with access to the property 15-20 minutes down the electricity supply track, we provide complimentary luggage transfer for walkers and bikers. Further afield excursions to Mt Stokes (30 minutes) Titirangi Beach 45 minutes, Raetihi Lodge 45 minutes. Free luggage transfers for Track walkers and bikers. Allow 25 minutes down the hill from the QCT (30-40 minutes up)
