At the opposite end of the lodge is the family bathroom with a bath, and shower above the bath, all with a contemporary feel. A twin bedroom is next door and as well as a further double bedroom, both with wardrobes and wall-mounted TV. The lodge has two designated parking spaces immediately outside. As a gated community most guests choose to walk around the Marina site taking in the beautiful views and looking at nature. There are short (and longer) walking routes recommended nearby and with the canal, a stone's throw away, guests like to take a walk to the canal then stop off for tea and cake in one of the marina cafes as they return. There are community bikes provided which are free to use on-site as long as they are returned to a bike shed after use and children are supervised by adults when in use. Of course, you are encouraged to bring your own bikes to explore the surrounding areas such as the canal towpath nearby. There is a very strict 10mph speed limit in force on-site to protect all guests and wildlife. Award winning nature park set by tranquil waters of Europes largest inland marina. Tranquil setting close to the Peak District and Derbyshire Dales. Derby and Nottingham are both within easy reach and the Marina is well served by main A roads and easy links to mainline train services. The local National Trust properties of Kedleston Hall, Calke Abbey and Hardwick Hall are great for local days out. We are close to Alton Towers, Matlock, Bakewell and Dovedale. The Marina is all one level and a gated community. The lodge comes with private parking for two cars. Most guests walk to the bustling Boardwalk shops, coffee shops and restaurants but it is also a lovely place to cycle (please be aware that, although there is a 10mph limit on the perimeter road, the marina is not traffic free). A short walk over the footbridge takes you to the Trent and Mersey Canal where you can follow the towpath and watch the boats.
