The Bach, Westleigh, Near Instow, Coastal Getaway.

Newly converted in 2021, located on the edge of Westleigh Village, perfectly situated in North Devon. The open-plan living space is perfect for cosy evenings on the sofa or for cooking up a feast. If you don't fancy cooking the pub is less than a 5-minute walk. Perfectly located on the Tarka trail for cycling or walkin and within easy reach of great surf beaches, not to mention the beautiful Instow which is perfect for estuary walks and eating out. Off-road parking in secure courtyard. The Bach at the Old School is a beautifully converted barn, it housed the Old Schools' changing rooms and coal shed. It is the perfect getaway if you like relaxing, cycling, walking, surfing, or just exploring the amazing North Devon countryside. Our family uses the Old School as a second home and the Bach has been converted for our friends and family, we offer it on Airbnb when we are not using it. We have been visiting this amazing area for years and have explored it extensively, some of our favourite things to do are listed below. Westleigh Inn, 5 min walk, excellent food, excellent pub and garden that overlooks the estuary. Instow, great beach walks, lovely deli and cafe (Johns), book a table at the Boat House, eat on the terrace if the weather is good. A hidden gem in the dunes, Instow, The Glorious Oyster, excellent crab, lobster, oysters, fish specials, coffee, and cake. Bring your Paddle Board or borrow a friends and give it a whirl in the estuary at Instow. Explore Crow point, not many people make it over there, it is out of this world, on a sunny day you could be in the Caribbean. Take a picnic and relax in the idyllic surroundings, for those that want some exercise you can walk around the corner and on to Saunton Sands or go through Braunton burrows and the dunes. Kitesurf at Westward Ho! A 30-second cycle from the Bach is the Tarka trail, grab a map and hit the cycle path. Walk or Cycle Surf at Northam Burrows, Saunton Sands, Croyd, Puttsborough, or Woolacombe. Try Coasteering in Croyde, there are a couple of operators and some great jumps, swims, and climbs. Walk Northam Burrows or Braunton Burrows, amazing dunes and seascapes. There are some lovely golf courses in the area, try Saunton Golf Club or the Royal North Devon and Portmore Golf Park. Drive to Hartland Quay, take a right, and walk to Hartland point, not for the faint-hearted, some of the hardest terrain on the SW coastal path. Or take a left and walk to a number of rocky beaches and a beautiful waterfall, try some waterfall jumping into the deep pools. Appledore is a lovely village with restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and a couple of gift shops. Great for crabbing and some harbour jumping at high tide. Book a table at the Yard if you are in the mood for something different, excellent English Tapas, great bar menu, all from local producers. Try the Farmers Market on a Saturday morning in the summer. We will be at the end of the phone or in the Old School. We are in a rural location with amazing views, located on the edge of the village. A car or bike is essential.
