Beautiful Suite on Active Farm -- The Roost
One-of-a-kind farmhouse suite! Located on a working grass-fed cattle and sheep farm. Get back-to-nature, relax and chill on this peaceful farm setting. Mere steps from the walking and cycling path along the canal and under two miles from downtown Stockton, NJ. This is an upstairs suite in the original 1700-era farmhouse on a 200+ acre working farm. The Roost is approximately 1300 square feet with a porch overlooking beautiful pastures. Inside, the kitchen is flooded with natural light and has ample room for dinner guests. Original floorboards of the farmhouse stretch throughout the suite. Other details like exposed beams and moldings make the space fun to explore and add to the overall charm. This historic farmhouse used over the centuries by farmers (Lloyd Wescott) famous writers (Glenway Wescott) and musicians (Paul Whiteman). The Roost is located on the second floor and is not wheelchair accessible. Guests have their own separate entrance with full use of the upstairs suite. It includes a full kitchen, living room, bedroom, dining room, outdoor porch/seating area, full bath and washer/dryer. Please be aware there is an apartment below and a kitchen. You may hear muffled music and some activity. The grounds surrounding the Stonehouse are common areas and shared with the downstairs guests. Stockton Market has a Food Court/Market open Friday nights, Saturday 9am-4pm and Sunday 10am-4pm. Stockton Fine Wine and Spirits is 2 doors down from the market. Stockton Food Store is like a convenience store with basic staples and opens 7am - 7pm. For full grocery shopping there's a 24-hour Giant food store (10 mins away). There are many charming local restaurants in New Hope and Lumberville, PA and Lambertville and Stockton, NJ all easily accessible by car. The area itself is great for walking, running, hiking and biking with gentle rolling roads, walking paths and river views. It's an easy 90 minute drive from New York and an hour from Philadelphia. Always drive 15 MPH on farm lanes. There is no rush and the sheep, goats and geese may saunter down the road from time to time. For the health and safety of the farm animals, and comfort of subsequent guests with allergies, we do not allow pets at this location. PLEASE NOTE: For your safety the animal barns are off limits. The working farm across the lane is leased to young couple that is not part of the AirBnB access area. If you have any questions about the access areas please contact Eli.
