Hedgehog Lodge Solitary Retreat

Available to book from Spring 2022 :) Hedgehog Lodge is a unique solitary retreat, in the gardens of Appletree Hill, located in the rural hamlet of Coddington, Herefordshire. A safe haven for peace, tranquility and solitude, while surrounded by trees and our endearing animals. A place to reconnect with nature & a simpler way of living, with a cosy wood burning stove & a comfy armchair, for warm drinks & quiet reading x A small compact living space, newly completed for 2022. A wooden lodge with bi-folding double doors, a single bed, dining/study area, traditional wash cabinet with bowl & jug, finished with a charming wood burning stove for hot water/ heat, and a comfy armchair to sit by the stove and take in the view of the garden & animals. The Lodge has separate toilet/shower cubicles, all individually arranged on your private terrace, which is set in the wooded area of our small holding of 2 aches, with our endearing animals as company. A place to reconnect with nature & a simpler way of living. There is limited electricity, some solar power lighting and the wood-burner stove for hot water and warmth in the colder months. A kettle is provided for hot water in the summer. Fresh cold water always available in reusable tapped containers, for drinking and to heat for washing, Eco friendly and biodegradable complimentary soaps also provided. There is a safe parking area for guests & complimentary hot drinks are available for you. A continental breakfast is included every morning with your stay, to be delivered at a time of your choice in a traditional hamper to the Lodge. Lunch and evening meals can also be included, at an additional charge, for a complete 'Solitary Retreat Experience' Parking is on the secure drive, then there is a short walk through the garden to the lodge. Coddington and the surrounding area is quiet and peaceful, so is perfect for solitude and thoughtful walks. Details of routes to follow are included in the 'Welcome Folder' of Hedgehog Lodge. I live with my partner in the bungalow Appletree Hill, in the grounds of the retreat small holding. Every respect of solitude will be shown to the guests of Hedgehog Lodge, but I will always be available if needed. Coddington is a very small hamlet with approx 12 dwellings, 2 working farms, a church and even its own vineyard. Within a 5 minute walk is 'Adhisthana' set in Coddington Court. A Buddhist Community that holds events & retreats and visit us often in the summer months when the Tea Garden is open. There are many lovely walks within Coddington, especially Oyster Hill, and lots of public footpath routes to follow in the surrounding area. The Malvern Hills are only a short distance away by car, for longer walks and spectacular views over Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Colwall is a small village 3.6 miles away that has a convenience store and a selection of places to eat and drink. Our nearest town is Historic Ledbury, full of charm, tudor buildings, as well as modern shops to meander round before stopping in one of the many tea rooms for a comforting break. Further afield are the 3 cities of Worcester, Hereford and Gloucester with their inspiring cathedrals and shopping experience. There is no public transport from or to the hamlet. Small private hire cars / taxis can be ordered, but these are few. The nearest bus service is approximately 2 miles through Wellington Heath. There is a station and train service in Ledbury ( 5.5 miles away) or neighbouring Colwall (3.6 miles away). As this is a working small holding, so we will be around the property caring for our animals. The Lodge is a 'Perfect Retreat for Buddhists'.
