Taralga is a small village in the Southern Tablelands and has a rich history of fine wool, prime lambs and beef, lush berries, quality wine and heritage buildings. Built in 1890 Woolbrook Cottage is situated on a large block within easy walking distance of everything Taralga has to offer. We would love you to follow us on social media @woolbrook_cottage. We have lovingly restored the cottage keeping many of the original heritage elements. My husbands family have been farming in the district for over 100 years and our cattle and sheep property is just on the outskirts of Taralga. You will see many tributes to that family farming history at the cottage. When renovating and furnishing the cottage we used as much vintage, homemade or previously owned pieces as possible. We hope you enjoy being part of the history of the cottage and it's special pieces. There are 3-bedrooms: 2 x queen bedrooms and 1 double bedroom. Bedroom 1 has a queen bed and ensuite bathroom including a bath. There is also a large wardrobe for storage. Bedroom 2 has a queen bed. Bedroom 3 has a double bed and open fireplace (for decorative purposes only). The kitchen has an Ilve freestanding cooktop and oven as well as a microwave and dishwasher. There is a big kitchen table that seats 8 so you can enjoy a fabulous dinner party. There is a wine fridge in the pantry for any special vintages you want to enjoy. The living room has two 3 seater sofas and 2 separate arm chairs for you to relax. There is a slow combustion fire in the living room and wood kept on the veranda. Relax and enjoy the view of the country setting from the wrap around veranda. There is an additional toilet inside and an outside bathroom with a full bath and heated towel rail. There is also a washing machine if needed. Dogs are welcome in the secure yard. There is plenty of space for children to play inside and outside and a tree house to explore. Thank you to the wonderful @emcallaghanphotography for capturing the spirit of Woolbrook Cottage. You are inspirational to work with. You will have the cottage to yourselves. There is ample parking right outside the front gate or you can bring you car inside the yard at the side gate. If you need any help during your stay I am only 5 minutes out of town and happy to help. You can also visit Your Soul Wellness studio in Taralga for self love in regional NSW offering Yoga, Beauty and Reiki energy healing @yoursoulwellness. Taralga is a beautiful historic village so please walk around and enjoy the architecture and rolling green hills. First recognised as a settlement in 1825, Taralga was established as a village in the 1860s and has preserved its unique building style. Buildings from the 1860s to the 1890s were built from stones and rocks gathered locally and the result is an architectural style somewhere between Georgian and Victorian, with larger windows and grander constructions than settlers enjoyed in other parts of the country. The Historical Museum can be found in the former Methodist Church and is open for visitors. The grounds contain some fantastic historic buildings, displays, demonstrations and archives that tell the story since the pioneering days. Taralga is 2.5 hours from Sydney and 1.5 hours from Canberra. Woolbrook Cottage is a 5 minute stroll to the Taralga Hotel and Grand Ettie and a 10 minute walk to The Argyle Inn. Laggan is a 25 minute drive and Crookwell and Goulburn 30 minutes. Wombeyan Caves is around a 40 minute drive and is a wonderful day trip.
