Welcome to the Desert Love Den! Enjoy the lovely setting of this romantic spot in nature. You will find yourself in the middle of the desert with 360 degree views of mountains in all directions. You will also find yourself next to the teahouse, an outdoor pavilion perfect for star gazing. I am also a tea enthusiast who offers tea ceremonies living in Presidio and would be happy to arrange for this special occasion. Please note, this is an off grid property so please bring your own water. The den is a bell tent with a 12 foot diameter. It is made of fabric and a protected plastic floor. The tent zips completely closed so you don't have to worry about critters. It can be a bit hot during the day, but cools off really quickly once the sun goes down. Full size bed with organic cotton fitted sheets, warm duvet & fluffy pillows. There is plenty of space for other people to sleep in sleeping bags. Please note that the dirt road should not be navigated by low clearance small sedan cars like Toyota Camry. Make sure you have a Subaru or an SUV or a truck. If you are not sure on your car, feel free to message me first. There is a parking space right next to the tent, about 30 feet away. It is a pull off of the main road, you can't miss it. At night there are two solar lights marking the parking spot on the side of the dirt road. There is a rock path guiding you to the tent from the parking. If you want to explore the teahouse, please take your shoes off and be respectful of the space. It is meant for meditation, yoga and tea. Please no food or drinks that may stain the wood. I am available to offer tea at the teahouse and my wife is available to offer yoga. If you are interested please reach out to me when you book and I can tell you the details. If you don't book a night but are interested, please search Desert Tea Ceremony in AirBnB experiences. Don't forget you are in the desert. There are snakes, scorpions, tarantulas, coyotes, javelinas and perhaps mountain lions. But don't worry, most people will never see most of the animals. But just be mindful and use a flashlight at night if you are walking around. You are responsible for your own water, food, cooking equipment, toilet paper and trash. If you need to use the bathroom, please dig a small hole and then cover it. There is a camping zone with a palm tree shade structure, a pizza oven, a wooden standing height table and a fire pit with some rustic seating. There may be campers there at my airbnb campsite. They are about 200 yards away. We are 2.5 miles off the highway in the middle of the desert. We have one neighbor who may drive by and they are friendly. Otherwise your neighbors are birds, jack rabbits and you may hear some javelinas at night and strange lights off in the distance. But they are just cars on distant highways... we think. Please take note that our land is a 10 minute drive on a dirt road. You do not need 4x4 drive, but having a medium or high clearance on your car is necessary. Please do not attempt the dirt road in a small sedan. We do not take any responsibility for trying the road with a low clearance vehicle. I will send you a map of the dirt road when you book. You will be in the perfect location to access some of the lesser known but fascinating parts of the big bend region. There is also an excellent dune landscape .8 miles walk away down a dirt road. Its huge and totally isolated. You are 20 minutes from a true ghost town: Shafter. You are 20 minutes from Presidio/Ojinaga should you need supplies or a meal. You are about 45 minutes from Big Bend Ranch State Park and the Rio Grande for hiking, swimming and biking. You are about a 50 minute drive to Marfa if you want to see art and have some fancy meals. All of the drives in this area are gorgeous and remote. You do not need a 4x4 vehicle, but we do not recommend tackling the dirt road with a low clearance vehicle. SUVs or trucks can handle the road no problem.
