Spacious studio

The accommodation is a large studio apartment on the ground floor of a house. There are Mountain View’s from the benches at the front of the property which faces south and has all day sun. This property consists of a large open plan room with a kitchen, 2 beds(a double and a clicclac sofa bed) breakfast bar with 3 stools, a sofa ,à table with 3 chairs, a wood / pellet burner, shower room with sink and a separate toilet with sink. This studio is a cosy place to retire to after a day out exploring the beautiful Ariege There is a sitting area just outside the large glass door with Mountain Views.When the sun is shining it’s is a perfect place to sit and enjoy the views , read a book or drink a glass of wine. You will have access to all of the property. We live in the top 2 floors of the same building. The ceiling has sound proofing so noise from above is reduced but there will be some sounds. We are not a noisy family and it will be quiet early in the morning and in the evening. If we are at home we are happy to answer your questions The properties are situated at the top of the pretty village of Lesparrou. We are just off the beaten track, nestled in a forested valley yet in the centre of many activities and amazing places to visit such as Montsegur chateau. The region is well know for its weekly markets which sell fantastic fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs, spices and local produce. Lavelanet and Foix markets are on a Friday morning and Mirepoix on a Monday. Renovated with thought and care using as many natural materials such as chalk paint, linseed oil and lime washes as possible. It has been a labour of love getting them to their current state and we have enjoyed living in each space so hopefully have created that home from home feel that we look for when we are travelling. The views from the south facing windows are superb and you can sit and watch the sun rise and set over the Frau in the heart of the Pyrenees. Natural light plays an important part in the feel of our retreats, often flooding in at different times of the day. There are several walks on the door step, along the river in both directions and up over the hill behind the property. Ideal for people who love the outdoors.There are many climbing venues about 30-60 minutes drive. Also canoeing on the Ariege, Aude rivers and on lac Mont Bel(the owners offer guided day trips in canoes on the lake please enquire to book).You can also hire canoes from Lac Mont Bel at Regate near Leran. We also offer guided day walks to suit all levels with the owners ; Dave and Louise who are qualified international mountain leaders, again please enquire for prices and to book. This area also suits those who want a quiet base to discover the region with its Cathar castles, historic villages and more. There are many great places to eat and sample some of the local gastronomic delights! This is an ideal region to discover on foot, on your bike or in winter. There are several different ski slopes that are about a1 hour drive. Our local slope at "mont D'Olme" is an easy 35 min drive. Bikes can be hired locally and dropped at the property from "Velomondo " . Craig, the owner, speaks French and English , knows where we are and is extremely helpful. Please deal directly with him or let us know your requirements and we can contact him for you. The nearest train station is Foix, a 25 minute drive away. We offer a pick up service for 20€ There is also a bus from Foix to Lavelanet. It’s is possible to walk to here from Lavelanet, it takes about 50 minutes. Or we can pick you up for 10€, it’s a 10 minute drive The check in instructions and information on how to find us is very clear and concise so that a self check in is extremely simple. These means you can arrive when you like after 4 pm on your arrival day. Please do not expect us to be there to see you in, the directions and the photos are all very clear so you can easily find the property , where to park and the key location. There is lots of information in the property about the area and if you need any help please send us a message, we are always willing to help if we can. We live above the studio so you will hear us from time to time in the rooms above and in the garden behind the studio. The studio has sound proofing and there is privacy from the back garden so that we can not see in and you can not see out. You have your own small terrace outside the door which you will use to entre the studio. This is a glass door which lets in light. Our dogs will be in the garden behind the studio, you will hear them barking from time to time when people walk past but we will not let them bark for long periods of time. Lesparrou is a quiet village with a post office. We are on a street with no through access so there is only us and our friendly neighbors in this tranquil corner of the village. We back onto forests and have a beautiful river which you can walk along in both directions to our neighboring villages for a quiet coffee or beer and pick up your bread and pastries from 2 outstanding bakers. Sheets and towels can be provided for 10€ per person per stay. You can pay cash on arrival for these. There are square pillows and duvets provided in the property. If you are in to the out doors this is a perfect place for you. We have many opportunities for many activities , from mountain hiking/biking to canyoning. Lac Mont Bel is a great swimming lake and only 15 minutes drive. We are also right in the heart of Cathar country with many wonderful Chateaux to visit. In the summer months there are many night markets to chose from for a great night out sampling many different types of food.
