Stylish Woodbridge family home with windmill view

Welcome to The Mill House, a stylishly renovated Georgian family home, 10 minutes walk from Woodbridge town centre. The house is cosy and bright, with plenty of character and style. You will have exclusive views of the tallest windmill in Suffolk which is located at just beyond the bottom of the large private garden. Within easy walk of beautiful Woodbridge with its independent shops and cafes and gorgeous Deben river walks, it is the perfect family base from which to explore the Suffolk coast. The Mill House is our family home, so you will find plenty of books, a well-equipped kitchen, a playroom with children’s toys, boot room, a sitting room with a grand piano and a cosy snug with TV and games. We hope you will enjoy using them and make it your home from home during your stay. The house is over 200 years old and a listed building. Some of the windows are the original single pane glass and some of the floors creak, but we hope you will agree this just adds to the character of the place! There are two bedrooms with king beds, one has a four poster bed and en-suite with cast iron free standing bath. The twin room has two single beds and adjoins the playroom and is most suitable for children. There is a family bathroom with a freestanding bath and a separate shower. Guests will have access to the entire house and large private fenced garden. The windmill buildings and field beyond are not accessible to guests. We are always available by phone or email and are happy to provide advice for getting around and some lovely places to visit during your stay. We may sometimes be staying in our property beyond the house garden, which has its own entrance along the drive. In which case you may see us coming and going and we are happy to say hello and chat, or leave you entirely in peace if you prefer. The Mill House is 10 minutes walk to the centre of charming Woodbridge with its bakery, deli, cafes, restaurants, shops, cinema and pubs. There is also a small local co-op just a minute’s walk away for any essentials. From Woodbridge there are beautiful walks along the river Deben and the Suffolk Coastal Path can be picked up at Snape or Shingle Street (15 mins drive). There is free parking in the council windmill carpark immediately adjacent to the house. You can also park in the driveway to load / unload (access may be required at times). We can also provide parking for a boat trailer or similar by request. Woodbridge train station is 12 minutes walk, with trains running to and from London roughly once an hour via Ipswich (total journey time 1.5-2hrs). Trains also run north up to Lowestoft. It is an easy 10 minute walk into Woodbridge town centre where you can find everything you need so it is possible to have a car free break. Aldeburgh is a 25 minute drive, Orford is 20 minutes. Sutton Hoo is 9 minutes’ drive. There is a small, 45cm deep pond in the garden. We keep chickens in the field just beyond the garden, they may occasionally visit you! Our lovely Lurcher will sometimes be staying with us nearby too. The house is near the road into town and at times you can hear cars going past. The Windmill belongs to the owners. It is currently undergoing repair works to the fantail and one set of sails (currently removed) and is not open to visitors at the moment. The repairs are due to be completed by 2023.
