Contemporary, self-contained, newly converted annex in a quiet, country lane surrounded by beautiful countryside close to the Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire borders. Whether you're looking for a bolt hole for a few days exploring the beautiful South West & its stunning coast, or visiting on business, Little Townsend is the perfect base. The annex is set in a lovely garden with its own patio area; parking is on a secure drive. A London Waterloo mainline station is just 2 miles away, in Templecombe. The annex comprises open plan kitchen/lounge with dining table for two, bedroom and en suite shower room. The kitchen is newly fitted out with all the essentials, including electric double oven cooker with hob & grill, microwave, toaster & kettle. An iron & board are also provided. The kitchen leads through to the lounge area which has a comfy 3-seater sofa & wall mounted TV. A separate bedroom features a king size bed with duvet & 4 pillows. There are matching bedside tables and lamps and a modest wall space with hangers for clothes. The en suite bathroom leads off the bedroom and boasts a large, walk-in shower, a vanity unit & toilet. Big fluffy towels are provided and can be left to dry or warm on the heated towel rail. Essential toiletries are supplied and a hairdryer can be found in the cupboard under the sink. The outside space incorporates a patio area with seating & chiminea, perfect for soaking-up the summer sun or relaxing under the evening stars with a glass of wine, amidst peace and tranquility. The annex is accessed via the side garden doors & the key is kept in a coded lock box. There is ample, secure parking on the drive of the main house. If you want to take a break from driving there are lovely walks from the front door, while the excellent, local pub is just a 10 minute amble. If you want to venture further afield, there are local taxis & a bus service. Mainline trains to London in the east and Exeter St. Davids in the west run regularly from nearby Castle Cary as well as Templecombe. But if you're a driver, less than 30 minutes travel will give you access to some of the very best the South West has to offer. Just 14 miles away is the National Trust's flagship Stourhead Gardens and the ancient Saxon hilltop town of Shaftesbury with its famous Gold Hill. Similarly, the picturesque towns of Castle Cary, Bruton (home to The Newt Estate & Gardens and the renowned Hauser and Worth art gallery) and Sherborne. You can reach our stunning coast in just over an hour; home to Burton Bradstock and the fabulous Hive Beach Cafe on Chesil beach, Bridport, Lyme Regis and Weymouth, to name but a few. Walkers should check out Stonebarrow, between West Bay and Charmouth, where the more adventurous can hike up to Golden Cap - the highest point on the South Coast. These are just a few of the highlights. Pamela knows the area intimately and will happily give you any advice you need on where to find just what you're looking for. We will not always be around in person but we can be contacted by mobile most of the time South Cheriton is a quiet hamlet situated between the village of Horsington & the small market town of Wincanton. There are lovely walks to enjoy including a section of the Monarch’s Way. We have a local pub within walking distance that offers delicious pub grub & a selection of local ales. Wincanton is the nearest shopping location, just a 10 minute drive away. The town has an abundance of charming coffee shops & takeaways that deliver should you want to eat in & not cook. Wincanton is also famed for its horse racecourse with details of races to be found on their website. The nearby village of Templecombe has a Norman church with a fascinating history, a coffee shop, a purveyor of the finest fish & chips & a small supermarket, as well as the London/Exeter mainline station. There is ample parking in the drive where cars can be left safely. The best way to get around in the immediate vicinity is on foot to enjoy the lovely walks. There are also local taxis & public transport.
