NEW 2022 - Beautiful cottage in country village

March Cottage is a charming Grade II period cottage dating back to 17th Century with an abundance of character throughout. The cottage is situated in the tranquil village of Ickleton with an excellent local pub and plenty of fields for country walks. It is ideal for those wanting to visit historic Cambridge (12 miles) or the charming market town of Saffron Walden (5 miles). Friends of mine have often compared it to the cottage from The Holiday (sadly Jude Law is unlikely to turn up though). The cottage is a cosy family home that we are renting out while living in London. It has a lovely cosy home away from home feel to it with an open brick fireplace and exposed beams through-out. Being an old house, it is perfectly imperfect in the way that it has some quirks such as creaky floorboards and none of the walls are perfectly aligned which only adds to the charm of this 17th century property! It includes: - Sitting/ living room with working fireplace, smart TV, corner desk, dinning area and French doors leading out to the garden - Country style kitchen/breakfast room with AGA - Two double bedrooms with en suites, one bath and one shower room - Utility room with fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine - Off street parking, space for 2 cars - Private, enclosed mature garden at the rear of the cottage, parts of the garden are due to be landscaped late spring/ early summer 2022. Guests should be aware that some of the spaces inside the cottage, particularly the doorways, are quite low so remember to duck when going through them! Ickleton is a charming little village on the outskirts of Cambridgeshire. There are lots of nearby fields and paths for country walks. The village has a lovely pub, The Ickleton Lion, and a small village shop for the basics. The nearest train station about 1 mile (about 25 mins - although not recommended to walk in the dark) in the next village, Great Chesterford. Saffron Walden is a beautiful market town which is 5 miles (15 drive) away, there is a great market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. The town is lovely to explore with some great shops and pretty streets. Audley End is a stunning stately home which is lovely for a day trip. Audley End also has a miniature railway which is great for kids. The beautiful University town of Cambridge is about 20 minutes drive (or train from Great Chesterford). It is a wonderful place for picturesque punting and sightseeing. Duxford air museum is in the next village and includes lots of aircrafts, military vehicles, artillery and minor naval vessels as well as collections of material such as film, photographs, documents, books and artefacts. The nearest train station about 1 mile (about 25 mins - although not recommended to walk in the dark) in the next village, Great Chesterford. There are direct lines to Cambridge and to London (at normal times). There is a bus stop in the village, you can get the 7 bus to Cambridge or to Saffron Walden. The cottage has space for 2 cars, one in front of the house and one in front of the garage (please ensure you do not block the neighbours drive). All ages are welcome at the cottage but, being such an old house, please note that the upstairs flooring is a little crooked and the aga is on and hot all the time as it is the only cooking appliance so bear that in mind (especially with young children). There is no baby equipment (eg stairgate, high chair) so please bring your own if needed.
