For children, Bellfield park (across the river) and Whin Park are favourites of our children. The Palace Hotel around the corner on Ness Walk is great for relaxing drinks with a view of the river. ‘Encore’ bar and restaurant, also around the corner on Young Street, is great for food and offers ‘over 50 of the finest whiskies in Scotland’ if you prefer a dram. ‘Rocpool’ restaurant is a popular contemporary brasserie on the banks of the river with very good reviews. Booking is advised as they are always busy! One of our favourites is ‘Aspendos’ which serves Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine that is always tasty. For live Scottish music Hootananny’s is popular. Most main attractions are within walking distance but should you wish to take the ‘City sightseeing’ open top bus tour, one of the pick up points is the Cathedral. As the house is on a narrow street, there is no parking immediately outside the house on a Thursday morning only to allow the refuse lorries to access the street. Ample parking is Available on nearby streets during this time and we provide a parking permit for this reason.
