Riverside Cottage in the heart of Sherwood Forest
Private garden with amazing views up-river. Tucked away in the heart of Edwinstowe and a short walk to Sherwood Visitors Centre, cafes and restaurants. The cottage is small but cosy with everything you will need 'home from home'. You'll love the Summerhouse facing the river with decking and BBQ area not overlooked, giving total privacy ; large enough to sleep in or relax/entertain/party in. It's fully insulated and has a heater; you'll want to spend most of your time outside. Downstairs: Well equipped kitchen/diner with store cupboard, essential ingredients, available for your use. Fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher. Dining table seats 5. Lounge with gas, log effect, open fireplace. TV: Netflix. Snug: Desktop computer/WIFI. Book swap library and 'quiet' chair with reading lamp. Bathroom with bath and showerhead to taps. Iron, vacuum. Basic toiletries provided. Bath towels provided. Upstairs (steep stairs): 2 small double bedrooms. Front: large wardrobe and drawers, dressing table , hairdryer and straighteners. Back: Open raised wardrobe with French doors, views out to garden and riverside. Tiny bathroom with walk in shower, toilet and washbasin. Basic toiletries provided. Bath towels provided. Outside: Raised decking with herb garden and seating from side of house. Lawned area for ball games and raised-bed, vegetable garden. Steps to private decking and party zone: Summerhouse with large fridge & BBQ area. No running water but indoor and outdoor lighting and electric sockets fitted. Chimenea and burning wood provided. It should not be necessary for you to use a car to get to Edwinstowe village amenities, or to Sherwood Visitor's Centre. Taxis are difficult to book in the evenings. Good bus services to surrounding villages/towns and in to Nottingham City Centre. Lots of rural cycle routes in the area for keen cyclists. The cottage is located on a residential lane leading out of Edwinstowe village to countryside and rural walks. There are mini markets ( open 7 days a week), a chemist, doctor's surgery, a bakery and gift shops on the High Street. There are numerous places to eat all within a 10 minute walk. Supermarkets are located in Ollerton: 2.5 miles and Mansfield: 7 miles and can be reached by car or bus. Cafes open for breakfast and lunches and restaurants and takeaways to suit most palates. Sherwood Forest visitors centre and craft centre is a short walk away. There are rural cycle routes and local historical attractions such as Rufford Abbey & Country Park, Sherwood Pines 'Go-Ape' both approx. 20 minutes walk. Historic Thoresby Hall, craft centre and Military Museum and Clumber Park are a 10 minute drive from Edwinstowe. There is a Horse Trekking Centre further along Mill Lane. It is not necessary to drive in order to reach the centre of Edwinstowe. But there are regular buses to Nottingham City Centre and local Towns, with bus stops on Edwinstowe High Street. Taxis are a little difficult to book, especially in the evening. The BBQ is charcoal: 1 large bag of charcoal ad lighting equipment is available in the furniture store beside the summerhouse. The Summerhouse has bi-folding doors so it can be opened for sunny party days. The summerhouse has it's own set of glasses and and cutlery for eating in that area. Basic toiletries include: Shower/bath creams/gels/soak and shampoo. You are free to use any herbs growing in the walled decking area. I will leave a note to say which, if any, fresh vegetables are OK for you to pick. WIFI signal can be weak at times.
