Rose Cottage is an exceptionally pretty home in Lee - one of North Devon's most charming and characterful villages - nestled between the sea, sky and hills on the Southwest Coastal Path. The 16th century cottage offers elegant and cosy accommodation, delightful gardens and a heated swimming pool (from Easter to end of October). Just a short walk to the beach at Lee Bay and within easy reach of Croyde, Woolacombe and Barnstaple, it's a great place to spend time together at any time of year. DEEP CLEANED AND SANITISED. Rose Cottage is a traditional Devon home, set amid spacious gardens offering privacy and tranquility, and moments from the beach and South West Coastal path. We have body boards, buckets and spades, also fishing nets for guests use, please replace if lost or broken - these are situated in the Wendy House opposite the swimming pool steps. Recently refurbished and decorated in a light, elegant style, the cottage maintains its character and unique features (which include some low doorways and ceilings and steps without rails), whilst offering flexible spaces for entertaining, spending time with family or relaxing. The most popular features is the open-air swimming pool, available from Easter until the end of October, heated to between 25 - 28c With three double bedrooms and a children's room with two sets of kiddie bunks (4 children's beds), not suitable for children over the age of 10, there is plentiful sleeping space. As you might expect from a cottage over 300 years old, rooms upstairs are relatively small (the living areas downstairs are larger). The Master Bedroom is spacious and features two traditional sash windows, overlooking the lane and over the fields and woods beyond, and has a wardrobe with ample handing space. Bedroom Two has a king size bed, two large wardrobes, one of which is used to store the cot (NB - the cot should be pulled out if in use), with lots of hangars and a window looking out on to the rear terrace of the garden. Bedroom Three is snug (i.e. small), with a double bed and space to move around it, a traditional fire place (not in use) but does not have a wardrobe (we suggests guests either use the hooks and hangars provided or put clothes in one of the built-in wardrobes in Bedroom 2. Bedroom 4 is the Children's Bedroom and features two smart, white kiddie bunk beds (2+2) not suitable for children over the age of 10, and a chest of drawers, as well as hangars and hooks (again, no wardrobe). Downstairs, the elegant, light-filled dining room looking over the fields and into the rear courtyard, boasts wide French windows, essential for al fresco dining in the summer months. The front terrace allow guests to make the best of the weather any time of year. The sitting room is a charming space, in keeping with the cottage; lightly and freshly decorated with local artwork and a selection of magazines for guests to enjoy (Sadly the woodburner is not in operation, but it is a warm space nonetheless). The traditional cottage kitchen with the gentle warmth of an oil Aga, (turned off during the summer months from the end of May to the beginning of September,) is very well equipped with Nespresso machine and a selection of complimentary capsules, with assorted teas, fresh milk in the fridge, and a good bottle of wine, for your arrival after a long drive. Bread-maker, juicer, electric cooker, microwave, large fridge freezer with a smaller over flow fridge, all mod cons. A large farmhouse table provides a further dining option. For the wet days, the Media Room is stocked with games, a widescreen TV (with Freesat) and house-wide internet (please note, this is the only TV in the house and there is no DVD player). Please note that Rose Cottage lies on the side of the valley; as a result there are a number of steps and steep drops around the property which may make it unsuitable for some guests. Young children are to be accompanied and supervised at all times - particularly given the on-site swimming pool. Some areas of the grounds are private and the owner requires access to the garage (set apart from the cottage) at all times, so please ensure this is kept clear. Please note, Lee does not have a local shop for groceries or provisions. There are shops in nearby towns / villages, and both Sainsburys and Asda deliver, but no shop within walking distance. We have no interaction with guests at this time, but can be contacted via telephone or messages. Private parking is on the property, car recommended. A local bus service runs twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays to Ilfracombe our nearest town. It is worth noting that there are no bathrooms/WCs downstairs and that the cottage sits on the sloping side of the hill, so there are numerous steps and inclines surrounding the house making it less suitable for some groups. We recommend that children are supervised at all times. Rose Cottage accepts up to 2 dogs maximum. The charge is £5.00 per night for each dog. The private swimming pool is heated to 25'C and is available and included in the rental from Easter until end October The pool is serviced weekly and a gardener also visits weekly. The owner may access the garage during rentals, but this should not disturb guests' stays. The drive is shared with a neighbour. Rose Cottage only accepts weekly bookings, Saturday - Saturday
