Welcome to Vendvidék, on the website of Vendvidéki Rest Houses in Felsőszölnök! The Vendvidék is an ethnographic region. This region is located in Vas county. Barely 3,000 people live in this area, mostly in small, almost secluded villages hidden in the hills. The Vendvidék got its name from its inhabitants, the Slovenes in Hungary, whose traditional Hungarian name is vend. Wandering the landscapes of Felsőszölnök, Kétvölgy, Apátistvánfalva, we can find impressive forests, abandoned houses, huge gardens running on hills, roadside crucifixes and belfries. The Vendvidék has unique natural endowments, it was once a closed area in the border zone, and today it is under nature protection as part of the Őrség National Park. To this day, many ancient forest patches have survived in the Vendvidék. Our two guest houses are located in Felsőszölnök, the westernmost settlement in the country, near the Austrian-Slovenian-Hungarian triple border. There are countless opportunities for active recreation in the area, but the guest houses have been arranged in such a way that even those who just want a little peace and recharge in this rushed world will feel as comfortable as possible. The pleasant coverings, the wooden furniture and the cozy fireplace make you feel at home. There is hardly any car traffic around the house, the air is clean, people are calm, friendly, birds chirping can be heard everywhere and in the evening here you can still see a million stars in the sky. We want our guests to leave our little houses enriched with real, lifelong experiences. Be it a shared evening wine drink by the warmth of the fireplace, be it a shared bike ride in the beautiful landscapes of the area, be it a fun barbecue in the garden, be it a shared game party in the living room or a shared tour in the fairytale forests of the countryside. The point is to be together and have experiences together in the little time we can break out of everyday life. Because in today’s fast-paced world, perhaps the most important are the experiences we have with family and friends that we will mention for the rest of our lives and that will give us energy for the rest of our lives. We have two separate guest houses with private terraces and barbecues. The interiors of the houses are the same, but their layout is a reflection of each other, so the living rooms and terraces face in opposite directions, so that the guests of both houses remain calm and intimate. The houses have two floors, we can accommodate a total of 6 people. In addition, max. We can accommodate 2 children under the age of 12, for which we can provide an extra bed or baby cot. Downstairs there is a foyer, a toilet with sink and a shared living room-kitchen-dining room. We can get to the upper level from the foyer. There is another foyer with a built-in wardrobe, as well as two bedrooms on the upper level, a bathroom and a toilet with a sink. One bedroom has a double bed and the other bedroom has two single beds. We try to help you create your night's rest with quality anti-allergenic mattresses, pillows, duvets and bed linen. For small children we can provide a baby cot with bed linen and a high chair free of charge. In the bathroom, a Miele family washing machine helps to recreate the clothes. The central element of the living room is a cozy wood-burning fireplace, which creates an intimate atmosphere for conversations, common meals, common games and cinema. The power of the fireplace is ample enough to heat the living room, but if you do not want to use the whole house electric Norwegian panels provide the right temperature. Across the living room is a comfortable corner sofa that can easily be converted into a comfortable bed when 6 people are in the house. The kitchen area has a real wooden kitchen furniture that hides all the necessary kitchen equipment and quality kitchen appliances. The living room has a large modern TV with an HBO GO subscription and a Nintendo Wii-type video game with multiple remote controls. These were also intended primarily for experiencing common experiences. HBO GO lets you watch a number of great movies at the end of a successful day. The video game has a motion sensor and we have selected games that can be played together from the age of 3. We also provide several remote controls for this. In addition, traditional, award-winning board games can be found in the closet next to the TV. Huge windows in the living room bring the garden closer. The living room has a large terrace, where you can relax on the garden furniture and grill on the corner of the terrace in good weather. The rooms of the guest houses are mostly covered with ceramics. The assembly of the used coverings was assisted by an interior designer. The two bedrooms have soundproofed premium quality parquet. Guests of the two houses can share the sauna house next to the houses in accordance with the sauna rules. The sauna house has a Finnish sauna, an infrared sauna, a splash, a shower, a toilet with a sink and a large foyer with sun loungers. The sauna house also has its own terrace overlooking the side of the houses. Use of the sauna house is free for guests. At the bottom of the plot belonging to the houses there are 4 parking spaces waiting for the guests and we have also created a small playground for the children. Next to the sauna house there is a wood-fired tub for 6 people, in which you can take a cooling bath in summer, and on cooler days it can be heated and provides a pleasant drop even in winter.
