Welcome to your bayside escape in cottage country. Relax & unwind to swaying reeds, open skies & water views in this vintage tiny home, upcycled with luxe amenities. A 4-season getaway, stroll, bike or snowshoe along the waterfront on the Tay Shore Trail. Picnic in the park by the bay. Take a swim at one of the local beaches. Go for a brewery tour, horseback ride, ski or excursion in the nearby, quaint towns. Or hideaway...this rustic cabin has many comforts, so you may not want to leave. Freshly renovated, stay at Escape North's newest cottage, Saltbox by the Bay. Perfect as a couple's retreat, solo traveller's haven or family adventure. NOTE: Our max occupancy is currently for up to 2 adults and 2 kids, under the age of 18. Follow us on IG @saltboxbythebay or view our other boutique cottages @escape.north The charm of the original cabin has been lovingly restored & upcycled with coastal undertones and modern conveniences. Our tiny but spacious cottage makes the most of 600 sq. ft. with simple luxuries and comfort in mind. Play old records and boardgames or read your favourite book by the gas fireplace. Cook gourmet meals in the chef-style kitchen, with stainless steel appliances & gas stove. Pamper yourself in the spa-like bathroom. And nap away in the cozy queen bed. Or make this your writer's retreat. If you're working remotely, high-speed internet will keep you connected, while the surroundings keep you entertained & disconnected, as you need. Additional Notes: • Guests are welcome to bring your own bicycles or borrow one of our 2 adult-sized bikes (available May to October). However, usage is at the guests' risks as we maintain them, as possible. Helmets are not provided. • Being across the bay, water may pool after heavy rainfalls & in the wet seasons (spring/fall). The deck stays dry but we recommend bringing rubber boots if planning to enjoy the yard & park during those times. • We have a no pet policy. We appreciate that there are many great pets but we don't make exceptions. Thank you for understanding. About the Neighbourhood The cabin is located in a mixed neighbourhood of cottages & residential homes. Our tiny house is bayside, on a cul-de-sac of a short country road, with just 8 houses. Here are just a few of the nearby, 4-season amenities: • Across the road is a private-access park by the bay, with picnic tables, a covered gazebo and playground for neighbours & guests. • With direct water access, feel free to bring or rent a canoe, kayak or SUP (rental shop just 6 min away). • The water entry at the bay is thick with silt & reeds, so not accessible for swimming but there are local beaches nearby. The closest is a 7 min drive (or 8 min bike ride) to the Waubaushene Beaches, for views at the look-out point or a summer swim. • The marsh is the perfect habitat for bird watching. Waterfowl often wade along the shore. • On the next block is an access point to the Tay Shore Trail: a 18.5 km paved pedestrian road along the bay. Treed canopies & waterfront views are ideal for a stroll, bike ride or rollerblade. Venture to Victoria Harbour for the beach or lunch by the marina and beyond. Bring your bicycles/cross-country skis or borrow one of our bikes/snowshoes for an excursion. • Tour the boardwalks & observation deck at Wye Marsh. Extend your day of exploring with a hike, canoe, kayak, snowshoe or cross-country ski though this 3,000 acre wildlife centre. • Horseback ride on scenic trails. • Visit the local brewery for tours & live music. • Ski, snowboard & winter activities at some of the best hills in Ontario, just minutes away. • Ride the nearby snowmobile trails. A gas station around the corner makes it easy to fuel up. • Charming towns, restaurants & cafes to explore - Coldwater, Midland, Victoria Harbour & Port Severn, to name a few. Nearby Drives: • Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre - 11 min • Mount St. Louis Moonstone / Ski or Snowboard - 14 min • Waubaushene Beaches - 7 min (8 min bike ride) • Highview Farms & Equestrian Centre / Horseback Riding - 5 min • Newton Street Art Barn / Local Artisan Crafts - 6 min • Swift Canoe, Kayak & SUP Rentals - 6 min • Quayle's Brewery / Tours, events, live music & Christmas Market - 16 min • Balm Beach - 23 min • Six Mile Lake Provincial Park / Hike, fish, canoe & beaches - 23 min • Horseshoe Valley / Ski, snowboard, 4-season activities, restaurants & spa - 23 min
