This large, modern, sunny countryhouse enjoys spectacular views over rolling hills & glorious gums against a backdrop of the beautiful silhouetted Macedon ranges. The view extends from the majestic Mount Macedon tracing the ranges all the way to city skyline, triple peaks of Geelong’s You Yang’s across to nearby Mount Gisborne with blue sweeps of Port Phillip bay and the ocean beyond. Perfect for groups of friends/family. Mesmerizing views. Accommodation: 6 bedrooms – sleeps up to 12 guests. 4 identical queen sized bedrooms upstairs with mountain views and 2 bathrooms, MBR/ensuite & 6th bedroom downstairs and a single bed in the TV room for 13th guest. Please note that a 6 person minimum applies on weekends. The spacious open plan living, dining, kitchen area and separate TV room are located upstairs and accessible at ground level from the large north deck providing sun and views. Downstairs almost like a separate wing is the lovely Master suite with king bed, views and en-suite; additional bedroom downstairs with twin beds or king, separate games room and north facing deck downstairs. Ideal setup for multi-generation families (in-laws/grandparents can peacefully stay downstairs!) However, the home is split level so the upper floor also has ground entry not requiring stairs. In addition you’ll find a fully equipped laundry with washing machine, dryer, iron and board. Outdoor seating area on north facing deck and sunken fire pit (not in use during summer season due to fire restrictions). Location: This property is only 30 minutes from the airport, 45 minutes from Melbourne and 50 minutes from Daylesford. It is the ideal distance to experience a rural lifestyle and explore regional areas while still being able to access Melbourne for day trips in the comfort of the local train arriving hourly at Southern Cross station and avoiding traffic/parking issues. The mysterious Hanging Rock is just 15 minutes away along with the beautiful gardens and Memorial Cross of Mount Macedon. It is a very easy drive to the historic towns of Kyneton, Castlemaine, Daylesford, Ballarat, Bendigo and all the charming settlements of the Macedon Ranges and further to the hamlets and towns of the Central Goldfields district of Victoria. These places have interesting museums, wineries, breweries, parks, gardens, walks, shops, antique shops and dining opportunities. Food: The kitchen is fabulously equipped to cook your own meals by sourcing local fresh produce and wines in the district and at the local Gisborne supermarket/butchers stocked with gourmet food selections. The lights of the distant city and local townships provide a spectacular backdrop for your home meal and can be finished by enjoying toasted marshmallows or a good bottle of red or hot chocolate by the outside fire pit (weather and fire restrictions permitting) and deck. Alternatively there are a vast array of restaurants in nearby townships of Woodend, Gisborne, Riddells Creek, Macedon and Kyneton. Recommended restaurants include: Gisborne – Telegraph Hotel, Canteena, Gisborne Hotel, Grand Guru Indian, Three Little Pigs, Hai Yan Chinese. Macedon – Olive Jones of Macedon, Mt Macedon Hotel, The Wine Collective. Riddells creek – Spices & Pestle, Riddells creek hotel. Woodend - Schatzi’s, The Victoria Hotel, Holgate Brewery (Keatings Hotel), Campaspe House, Maloa House Gourmet Delights. Kyneton - Royal George Hotel, Café Colenso, Pizza Verde, Little Swallow Café, Annie Smithers and Star Anise. Head straight for the world-famous Piper Street and its historical precinct – you can’t go wrong. Drinks: A winery cellar door (Gisborne Peak winery) is a short stroll away offering wine tastings and delicious wood-fired pizzas daily (open daytime only). Other recommended local cellar doors include Hanging Rock, Mount Macedon, Hesket Estate and a little further afield Curly Flat (near Lancefield), Knights Granite Hills, Paramoor and Cobaw Ridge. For the golf enthusiasts the Gisborne Golf Course with its resident kangaroos is a highly rated course and only 7 minutes away. Netflix is available and wifi by arrangement. Rates displayed are based on 2 people using each room, if singles are requiring a bedroom each then additional charges apply and will be advised before booking acceptance.
