Welcome to Solomon of Zanzibar, our brand new 5 bedroom eco villa in Kidoti village overlooking the islands of tumbatu in the Indian Ocean. Our property is designed for groups of family and friends to retreat in natural luxury and experience authentic Zanzibari culture and the island’s natural environment. A unique event location, private and staffed to cater to your tropical island needs. THE BLACK ROOM AT SOLOMON OF ZANZIBAR A modern room with a moody masculine character. Black metal is combined with bright grain wood surrounded by creamy plaster walls. The canopy bed is King size with a quality mattress. All furniture is handmade by local builders. The room opens up to a shared living space with view of the Indian Ocean. This is natural luxury. DESIGN FOR SUSTAINABILITY Taking inspiration from the simple honesty of local island life, we’ve designed Solomon of Zanzibar to be soft on the eyes as well as the environment while at the same time living in natural luxury. Minimalistic contemporary design is combined with robust structural work. The cool spacious rooms open up to the outside and all is sheltered under an impressive traditionally built makuti palm leaf roof. PERMACULTURE The entire premises are solar powered, this means we watch our energy consumption. Rooms have lots of airflow and are equipped with solar ceiling fans. A cold water gravity fed system is in place. No hot showers, but who really needs that in tropical temperatures? Our garden is graced by an over 200 year old mango tree under which you can relax in the shade. We’ve recently built an outdoor seating lounge with fire pit that can seat 30. Perfect for parties, workshops or a big bbq. Over the years we have planted plenty of tropical native fruit trees like soursop, guava, papaya, different bananas, cassava, coconut, passion fruit. Medicinal turmeric, lemongrass, tropical flowers. EXPERIENCE Take a walk through our tropical garden. Pick some fruit or veg and plants new seeds. We are constantly learning and trying new things. Explore the local village life or check the tide, walk down the hill and take a short hike to one of the many little local beaches. You can observe ocean life, mangrove , boat builders, fishermen at work. We are located only 10 minutes by car from the touristic Kendwa and Nungwi beach villages where you can enjoy nightlife, restaurants and shopping. Solomon of Zanzibar is perfect for entertaining. Besides the 5 bedrooms with adjacent living spaces we’ve recently built an outdoor seating lounge with fire pit that comfortably seats upto 30 guests. Relax in the shade under the mango tree or enjoy the view from our shaded porch. INCLUDED SERVICES Solomon of Zanzibar has its own private staff on site daily from 7-11AM. Every morning you will be served a wonderful luxury breakfast with daily changing fruits, juices and specials. After breakfast we can assist in making plans for the day. We can help in booking trips, make suggestions on the best beaches and arrange our trusted drivers for transportation. During the duration of your stay with us we provide complete cleaning with fresh sheets and towels every 2 or 3 days depending on the size of your party. Drinking water is available at all times as well as WiFi through a mobile router device. ADDITIONAL SERVICES If you like, we can prepare a beautiful lunch or dinner from day fresh ingredients. Our Chef’s specialty is to introduce you to Zanzibar’s tropical seasonal staples in a festive and luxurious style. Cassava in coconut, sweet potatoes, spice rice, fresh calamari, King fish with garlic, ginger and lime. Sounds nice? We also love organizing a BBQ at our seating lounge with fire pit with fresh grilled fish and/or meats. A perfect evening to invite friends and celebrate. Upon request we call in our bartender to mix some of our islands favorite cocktails. Mojito’s with fresh mint from our garden, piña colada.. Please let us know what beverages you enjoy so we can make sure they are stocked. Please also inform us of any dietary requirements. We allow external guests for events, lunch or dinner. Should you wish to welcome any outside guests, please discuss with our staff so we can turn it into a beautiful gathering. By car it’s only a 10 minute drive to the beautiful white sandy beaches of Kendwa and Nungwi. This is also where the tourism, shopping and nightlife happens. We are located in a very local village where nature is pristine and farmers and fishermen go about their daily tasks. Plenty of nature to hike through and little beaches to discover. Solomon of Zanzibar is a great place to start excursions from. We are close to Fukuchani village where our chef Said’s family welcomes us to swim in natural caves,. Tour the village and cook Swahili style food together. Trips to Mnemba Island with it’s beautiful sandbank and snorkeling as well as the famous spice tour can all start right from our villa. The airport and Stone Town are about an hour drive but we can organise your transfers with our trusted drivers upon request.
