We are an off grid, solar powered organic farm in Karangahake Gorge, Waikino / Waitawheta with a beautiful yurt for guests. Our back gate opens on to one of NZ's most popular spots with bush walks, waterfalls & river swimming. 5 min drive from Hauraki Rail Trail & 25 minutes from surf beaches. Escape into nature & have a soul nourishing adventure. Our farmstay is 5 minutes away from the stunning Karangahake Gorge. Our 6 metre yurt style is modern retro, bohemian and quirky - a unique glamping experience. Staying in a yurt is a beautiful experience, you will feel so at home amongst nature. We have 10 hectares of meadows & native bush, and we invite you to be a part of our solar powered, earth loving lifestyle. The yurt includes a super king size bed, a double sofa bed and a single futon. The beautiful, sustainably built bathroom includes a flushing compost toilet and a hot shower. Self-contained, covered kitchenette with everything you need including a fridge and BBQ. You will get a key to our back gate which takes you immediately on to Conservation land, the many beautiful walks of the Karangahake Gorge, and even the Kaimai Ranges. Sit out on the deck and watch the sunset on the mountain, watch the galaxy of stars appear over your head as the native ruru and glowworms make an appearance. This is especially suitable for families as we are a family run farm with lots of kids! We have a great climbing tree with a swing and slide coming out of it, a fairy garden and lots of space to be wild and free. The public parts of the farm and forest are all clearly marked, and we welcome you to explore these areas. This guest yurt is 15 metres away from our big yurt which is our home, but during the summer we are often away on adventures. Everything is straight forward though so you won't be left in the lurch. We will point you in the right direction for the world famous tunnels, waterfalls and swimming spots. We will try and be sensitive to your needs and what you would like. Our eco farm stay is at the foor of Karangahake, on the Waitawheta River. We have bush walks and waterfalls and biking and hiking and swimming galore. Adventurers and people wanting to get in touch with nature will enjoy our busy working farm at this very popular summer spot. We are five minutes from the award winning Bistro with its incredible wood fired pizzas, and a 15 minute drive away from the two local towns, Paeroa and Waihi. The Karangahake Gorge is right at the foot of the Coromandel, from here you could do some great day trips up to Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cover. Or you might want to head to the local surf beaches, Waihi Beach or Whangamata or all the other family friendly activities such as the awesome Bullswool Farm just up the road. We are far from public transport (right inbetween Waihi and Paeroa -twenty minutes from both) but we will try and be helpful with lifts if we can. If you are in NZ without transport please get in touch as we may be able to pick you up from Waihi or Paeroa. From here you can access the Hauraki Rail Trail (15 minute cycle or 5 minute drive) and all the walks around Karangahake Gorge. The Windows walk is 50 minutes through the Waitawheta Gorge and Mount Karangahake is 3 hours up and 2.5 down from our back gate! We have several swimming spots, jumping spots and waterfalls to choose from right here. We have lots of little place to play, including a little fairy dell with painted mushroom seats, lots of rope swings, a slide that comes out of a tree and toys for the kids.
